Hi! I am Ashley Priest, and I am excited to join the McDeeds Family as Assistant Principal for the 20-21 school year! I started my career in Moore County Schools having previously taught 2nd and 4th grade at Carthage Elementary before taking the leap to teach and integrate STEM in K-5 classes and schools across Moore County. I served as an Assistant Principal at Highfalls and Westmoore K-8 Schools last school year.
I believe in advocating for students to reach their full potential and lead productive lives. I am a student-focused leader who lifts, inspires, and collaborates with innovative professionals to create a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment needed for future success. I am a proactive and enthusiastic leader who believes in building strong relationships with all members of the school community.
My educational background has supported and helped me build and grow my philosophy in education. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and my master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I completed my internship for school administration in Moore County Schools under Dr. Capps, and served as a Kenan Fellow, bringing relevant STEM careers to the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills.
I grew up in Ohio and Michigan and moved to NC to start my career in education. I currently live off a farm in Carthage with my husband and 4 fur babies. I love to travel, camp, spend time with my family, and read and run in my spare time. I am proud to be a McDeeds Creek Bull, and look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
